Nokia is a 5G partner

In recent weeks, Telecom Liechtenstein technicians have started modernizing the Liechtenstein mobile network and preparing it for 5G, reports Telecom Liechtenstein.

This future step will be implemented in cooperation with Nokia's European technology provider. The long-standing partnership between Telecom Liechtenstein and Nokia continues. After the successful construction of the optical core network in Liechtenstein, Telecom Liechtenstein and Nokia signed the contract on the expansion of the new 5G mobile generation. Excellent quality, reliability and the European telecommunications group's technological leadership were decisive factors in Telecom Liechtenstein's selection of Nokia as a partner for its 5G expansion.

“Like all technologies before, 5G mobile technology is being implemented by us in Liechtenstein. That is why it was important for us to find a radio technology partner who sets the same high standards for its products as we do. We have found a partner equal to Nokia. It has always been particularly important for us to work with a European partner," explains Aldo Frick, CEO of Telecom Liechtenstein.

The 5th generation of mobile communication, 5G, is characterized by peak data transfer speeds of up to 10 gigabits/s, extremely low latency and high energy efficiency. The legal framework in Liechtenstein does not yet allow the full exploitation of 5G performance. 5G will create the basis for highly reliable, real-time communication between mobile devices, be it smartphones used for online gaming, augmented and virtual reality applications or robots in digital factories, and thus for innovations in various fields such as mobility, transport or Industry 4.0.
