HMD has developed a future satellite connectivity accessory

It seems that HMD Global is developing a satellite locator that uses satellite connectivity. Satellite connectivity has been introduced in phones from some manufacturers in recent years, but HMD's solution seems to be a separate accessory.

Satellite connectivity allows you to stay connected in areas and environments where traditional mobile networks do not work. For example, in emergency situations, satellite communication can be a vital means of communication.

HMD has received approval in the United States for a device with the model number "TA-1698" and codenamed "Skylynx". The documents reveal that the device supports NB-IoT and GSP technologies, as well as BLE connectivity. In addition, NTN technology, which uses satellites to establish communication connections, is supported. The device should provide two-way satellite communication, allowing users to send and receive messages. The device is still in the testing phase, and the certification suggests that it will be launched soon. In the past, similar devices have been shown by companies such as Bullitt Group, and the product in question was called Moto Defy Link. HMD's solution is very similar.

HMD's future device was developed by Chinese contract manufacturer Tinno, which was also responsible for the Bullitt Group device. In Tinno's solutions, the devices allow for satellite communication with any Android or iOS phone via Bluetooth or data cable. This allows the user to use satellite communication functions without having to change phones.
