HMD Global offers a solution that provides satellite connectivity to all phones, thanks to the new HMD OffGrid device, which is compact and robust, enabling satellite connectivity for both Android and iOS users. It works especially well in places where mobile networks are not available.
The HMD OffGrid is designed to withstand harsh environments. Its IP68 rating ensures water and dust resistance. It is MIL-STD-810H certified, which means it can withstand harsh weather, drops and even water. Although the device is durable, it weighs just 60 grams and measures 93.88 x 60.16 x 12 mm. The device has a 600 mAh battery that can last up to three days on a single charge.
Users can access OffGrid via the HMD OffGrid app. The app supports two-way communication, real-time location tracking for up to five contacts, and a scanning feature that lets you send pre-written messages with a single tap.
Messages can be sent to any phone number, even if the recipient doesn't have the OffGrid app. However, recipients will need the app to be able to reply. The app also has an SOS feature in partnership with FocusPoint International, which provides 24/7 multilingual emergency services.

HMD offers two subscription plans for OffGrid users. The HMD Unlimited subscription costs $139.99 (GBP 111, EUR 133, INR 11,915) per year and includes unlimited messages and scans, while real-time location tracking costs $4.99 (GBP 3.99, EUR 4.81, INR 427) extra. The HMD Freedom subscription costs $79.99 (GBP 63, EUR 77, INR 6856) per year and includes 350 SMS, as well as unlimited scanning, real-time location tracking for an additional $0.10.
