S tudents in the United States, Japan, Indonesia, Korea, and Brazil are getting a free one-year subscription to Google AI Pro to help them get the most out of AI in their studies. Sign up for the free AI Pro Plan. We’re also introducing a new set of learning tools in Gemini for everyone. The features are designed to help foster critical thinking, deepen understanding, and make learning more effective.
Gemini now has a learning support mode. The update helps deepen understanding and directs solutions to users. With the new school year just around the corner, Google has updated its Gemini AI service with a learning support user mode to make life easier for students. The mode can be activated when typing a prompt, and then the AI generates content that develops understanding to help the student understand how and why things happen,” Google describes.
In practice, Gemini does not offer direct answers in the learning mode, but rather reasoning content that can help the student work their way towards solving a math problem, for example. The space is suitable for learning almost any subject, Google says, citing photosynthesis or cell structure as examples.
ChatGPT also recently received a largely similar reform, and learning-supporting user modes for AI services are currently in development. In the future, Gemini will be able to supplement its answers with high-quality images, graphs and YouTube videos. The updates have now been released globally for the Gemini AI service.
