Altice Portugal has chosen Nokia as its new 5G mobile supplier

A ltice Portugal has chosen Nokia as its 5G Stand Alone mobile 'core' supplier, which will enable the operator to deliver low-latency services or IoT services in bulk, it was announced today.

According to the same information, Nokia will be responsible for the development of the Core 5G network, "including the evolution to a cloud-native architecture, where network functions are implemented as microservices, in the business logic of modular services".

The new 5G Stand Alone cellular core enables Altice Portugal to provide innovative 5G services such as network slicing, low latency services and IoT services in customer communications for the consumer and business segments. On the other hand, it will also provide a higher level of security, using strengthened encryption algorithms for enhanced data protection.

The services made available by the new Core 5G guarantee nationwide coverage, using Altice's public mobile network. This innovative, high-performance offering is designed to meet the critical communication needs of industries, government agencies, cities and enterprises where automation and high device intensity are critical considerations.

The new 5G mobile "core" service allows Altice Portugal to mass-promote new 5G services for business and private customer communications, namely "network slicing, low-latency services and IoT services", which also enables security strengthening its level.

Altice Portugal also adds that the services provided by the new "core" 5G guarantee nationwide coverage through the mobile network.
