N okia has introduced its first push-button phone to offer video calling, the Nokia 200 4G, to the Chinese market. Fast Technology reports that after months of hiatus, Nokia’s official WeChat account has suddenly been updated, announcing the Nokia 200 4G, priced at CNY 199 (GBP 21, EUR 25, USD 29 and INR 2791), aimed at students, seniors and those who use it as a backup phone.
The Nokia 200 4G is the first device from Finnish HMD, which is called a “micro chat” phone, combining a traditional keypad phone with modern communication features. The device’s special feature is its support for HMD’s own micro chat service, which allows the phone to make video calls to smartphones via the WeChat mini-program.
The Nokia 200 4G is reportedly Nokia's first chat-enabled phone, offering seamless connectivity between the handsets and smartphones via the HMD Chat instant messaging tool. Smartphones can connect via the WeChat HMD Chat mini app, and regular phones come with the HMD Chat app pre-installed, allowing for voice and video calls, text and image communication, group chat, geofencing, and location tracking.
It's worth noting that WeChat can not only connect to WeChat mini apps, but also allows two feature phones to send messages and make video calls directly. On the hardware side, the Nokia 200 4G features a 2.4-inch display, separate large buttons, supports family number setting and one-touch calling, as well as a dual-LED flash and a built-in 1,450mAh battery.
By the way, the Nokia 200 4G has a 9-level external volume booster, supports Himalaya FM, Migu Music, voice broadcasting, voice recorder and call recording, and has a built-in FM radio that can be listened to without headphones. The phone is known to support 4G networks of China Mobile, China Unicom, China Telecom and China Broadcasting Network, as well as VoLTE HD voice calls. It also has two Nano SIM card slots, so you can use both SIM cards and the 4G network at the same time.
