The red square operator will use the services of the Finnish equipment manufacturer to build its 5G "core network" this year. This allows the number two French telecom to pass a milestone in terms of performance. This progress is expected especially by companies that want to use this technology to digitize their activities.

During the year, SFR will build the 5G Stand Alone (SA) core network, and the red square operator asked Nokia for this. This is the next step in the deployment of 5G, which in particular enables the speed of the new generation network to be accelerated. 5G SA network to launch this year The next evolution of 5G will go through a stand-alone core network for operators and will arrive this year.

SFR just announced, and the operator chose Nokia for this. The two companies are already working hand-in-hand on this next-generation mobile network, particularly on 5G SA network slicing. This technology, tested in 2022, makes it possible to divide the network into several slices and assign some of them to different services. During the tests, a section was reserved for the photojournalists of Altice, the parent company of SFR and BFM.

In this way, they were able to continue transmitting the images while the mobile network was heavily used. SFR does not indicate to the general public what improvements this core network will bring, you have to wait for the construction of this core network or the first real tests. However, 5G SA should allow for increased user speed and reduced latency.
