P rolonged daily use of smartphones is a problem that raises concerns for human health, especially in terms of radiation exposure. A German organization, the Bundesamt fur Strahlenschutz, conducted a study to monitor the amount of radiation emitted by different types of phones on the market.
Our dependence on smartphones is constantly increasing, be it for work, study or leisure. Although it is difficult for most people to give up their cell phones, due to the dreaded radiation, some try to limit their use as much as possible.
The aim of the Bundesamt fur Strahlenschutz organization is to ensure protection against telephone radiation. Use the SAR index to quantify the presence of electromagnetic radiation absorbed by our bodies due to mobile phone use. A lower SAR level means less emitted radiation. The organization has also compiled a list of some phone models that appear to emit very high levels of radiation. Fortunately, the latest generation models are designed to minimize the harmful effects of radiation.
However, some smartphones emit more radiation than others. These include the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra (2021) with a SAR of 1.79, the Oppo Find X3 Pro (2021) with a SAR of 1.26, the Oneplus 9 (2021) and Motorola Edge 20 (2021), both with a SAR of 1.00, and the iPhone 13 Pro (2021) with a SAR of 290. It is true that none of these models exceeds the 2.0 W/Kg limit set by the current European Union regulations, the radiation rates are still quite high.
