At Nokia's Bydgoszcz plant and research and development center, Orange has built an industry-wide 4G and 5G network. The solution covers a total area of 13,000 m2. According to the president of Orange Polska, private 5G networks represent the future of an efficient industry.
The Bydgoszczy site includes the Nokia plant and a three-building research and development center. At the Bydgoszcz plant, Nokia will integrate and test advanced ICT systems and networks, including for telecom operators.
Nokia has chosen Orange as a partner to build a private 4G and 5G network. The orange provider has built a private campus network based on Nokia's Digital Automation Cloud solution - a private application platform capable of delivering high transfer rates, low latency and local edge processing. Outside the network itself, the perimeter server is a key component of the entire system. It is a platform for configuring, managing, monitoring and operating networks and applications, and a place to store and process data.
There are two indoor base stations in each building. In addition to the buildings, there is also an outdoor station. The network provides, among other things, voice and video communication between employees. It is completely private, ie only for communication within the factory. Therefore, it is not integrated into the Orange Polska network and cannot be accessed by persons not authorized by Nokia. Separation of services is possible thanks to dedicated SIM cards.
Julien Ducarroz, President of Orange Polska said: "Private 5G networks are undoubtedly the future of an efficient industry. I am pleased to be able to boast of the unique experience we have gained in the implementation of this type of implementation already in place in the Polish market, which will pay off in later projects, such as those with Nokia."
Piotr Binda, Head of Nokia's Eastern European Customer Team said: "Together with our partner, Orange, we are opening a new phase in the development of our future factory, offering a better on-site experience and ensuring our efficiency and competitiveness."
