Nokia expects to recognize the revenue related to this new patent license agreement starting in January 2024. The agreement is consistent with the assumptions Nokia has disclosed in the commentary with respect to Nokia Technologies long-term outlook in its Financial Report for Q1 issued on April 20, 2023.

A ccording to a CyberMedia Research report, the Inida mobile market grew by 9%, with Nokia Mobile in third place with 11% growth in the second quarter of 2023. Interestingly, G feature phone shipments grew by 108% year-on-year while India's overall smartphone market declined by 6%, while the 5G segment grew by 45% year-on-year with a 47% share.
This growth was primarily driven by feature phones, including the Nokia 8000 4G, Nokia 106 4G and Itel Magic X pro. The report states that the Indian mobile market will be further increased by the sale of 4G phones.
Itel led the Indian phone market with 35% market share, followed by Lava at 30%, Karbonn at 4% and Samsung at 3%. The sad news was that Samsung's shipments decreased by 74%, but Nokia's shipments increased by 39%.
