Nokia's restructuring talks concluded - 121 jobs to be cut in Finland

The restructuring talks at network technology company Nokia, which began in early March, ended on Wednesday. The restructuring talks will result in job cuts in Espoo, Oulu and Tampere. CEO Lasse Laurikainen confirmed the information to Kauppalehti.
Up to 121 jobs will be cut at Nokia in Finland, according to reports. Half of these jobs are expected to be in Espoo, the rest in Oulu and Tampere. No layoffs have been made so far, but the intention is to notify the layoffs on April 22.
In February, Nokia estimated that up to 156 jobs would need to be cut. At the time, it was reported that Nokia's cuts in Finland would be targeted in particular at its mobile network business. This is not surprising, given the sluggish market situation in the industry and the focus of Nokia's Finnish operations on mobile networks.
"Our goal is to reduce fragmentation at the team level, align our operations to meet market needs, and increase our operational efficiency by better leveraging the opportunities offered by digitalization and artificial intelligence," said Mikko Hautala, vice president of geopolitics and public relations at Nokia Finland, in a message sent in February.
From the beginning of 2026, Nokia has implemented a new business and organizational structure, which is divided into two main business segments: Network Infrastructure and Mobile Infrastructure. In addition, some operations that were in practice on the sale or discontinuation list have been moved to the new Portfolio Companies operating segment.
