A nnounced 24 years ago, the Nokia 3310 is one of the most successful phones, selling 126 million units worldwide. It is still widely recognized today and has achieved cult status due to its remarkable durability. Do you remember the Nokia 3310? Despite the fact that almost everyone associates Nokia with Finland, the 3310 was created in Denmark by the company's design team in Copenhagen. Production was later carried out in Finland and Hungary. It's not a new thing these days, but back in the days of the Nokia 3310, it was a big deal to display text messages with that partner one below the other, much like how chat windows work.

Another interesting innovation was that the Nokia 3310 could send SMS messages of up to 459 characters by concatenating three messages. Of course, these were sent as several separate SMS messages by the phone, but on other Nokia 3310 devices, the text appeared together. (The SMS standard allows a maximum of 160 characters.)

The Nokia 3310 came with four different games: Pairs II, Space Impact, Bantumi and Snake II. The latter was an updated version of the classic 80s title Blockade and became a huge hit almost immediately. There are plenty of Snake II clones on the Play Store these days, but none of them recreate the original physical button gaming experience.

Nowadays, personalization of devices is usually limited to wallpapers, themes and cases, but with the Nokia 3310, we were able to change both the front and the back. Xpress-On covers debuted with the Nokia 5110 in 1998, but the 3310 took it to a new level, with thousands of skins available from different manufacturers.

When the Finns' national emoticons were chosen in 2015, there was no question as to who the runners-up were. In the land of saunas, rock bands and Nokia, the epitome of unbreakability is none other than the 3310.
