Nokia Mobile plans to start manufacturing phones in Bangladesh, a country that is also an important market, along with many potential consumers.

Raqibul Kabir, Managing Director of Vibrant Software (BD) (Union Group concern), confirmed that Vibrant Software (BD) Ltd had received temporary approval from BTRC to set up a mobile phone factory in Bangladesh and permission to assemble / manufacture the Nokia brand.

A BTRC anonymity officer told The Daily Star that Vibrant Software Limited had already submitted documents requesting permission to manufacture the handsets. The official refused to reveal details of Nokia’s plant and plans in the days that followed.

Nokia is not the only brand that started assembling its phones there. The same maneuver was carried out by Samsung, OPPO and Realme. The local mobile device manufacturing industry began its journey in 2017 when the Walton electronics brand began manufacturing in Bangladesh.
