Nokia will add Phillip Ritter to the federal team

P hillip Ritter, a wireless data network expert, has joined Nokia's federal team. Phillip will oversee the federal department’s research and development efforts and will serve as a subject matter expert on issues related to mobile core and transportation platforms.

Ritters has more than 30 years of experience designing and deploying wireless data networks, from the Advanced Mobile Phone System and other analog mobile platforms to digital cellular systems.

He has advanced cloud and virtualization for telecommunications systems, and he led the deployment of the 4G-LTE data core at Verizon (NYSE: VZ) under the 3rd Generation Partnership Project or 3GPP, a collective term for many organizations that build protocols for mobile telecommunications.

“Nokia was a leading partner in every wireless project I was involved in,” Ritter said. "I'm excited to be able to join Nokia and help bring innovation to our customers in the federal space."

Ritter spent nearly two decades at Verizon, where he served as director of design for virtualization architecture for software-defined network and networking functions, as well as director of LTE core network design.
