KIANEWS Nokia to supply 25 Gbps optical fiber to Vodafone Qatar in Msheireb Smart City

N okia has installed 25 Gbps PON-based fiber broadband access technology for Vodafone Qatar in the Msheireb Smart City district. The Msheireb Downtown Doha project is described on its website as "the world's first fully developed smart and sustainable urban district".
Vodafone Qatar claims its subscribers in the district will have access to the fastest residential fiber speeds in the Middle East, and has indeed stated its intention to demonstrate speeds of up to 100Gbps with a Nokia Bell Labs prototype.
Ali Mohamed Al-Kuwari, CEO of Msheireb Properties, said: “Smart City Msheireb Downtown Doha will be at the forefront of technological innovation in Qatar and the Middle East, adopting the latest data technology from Vodafone, which will provide unprecedented internet speeds of up to 25 Gbps offers users.""
