N okia's network device maker has applied for membership from employers in the technology industry, Kauppalehi writes.

Nokia's membership increases the weight of the new employers' association, as Nokia employs around 6,300 people in Finland. In addition, a small proportion of Nokia's employees are covered by a collective agreement. The staff of the Oulu plant is covered by a collective agreement between the technology industry and the Finnish Industry Association.

The employers ’association said last week that 391 companies have joined as members so far. The companies that have already joined employ more than 84,000 people. Next time, the association will welcome new members on October 27th.

The Association of Technology Industry Employers was formed in the spring when the Technology Industry Association decided to break away from national collective bargaining. The activities of the employers' association officially began just over a month ago. The new employers ’association will negotiate nationwide collective agreements in the technology industry next fall. Companies that remain members of the Technology Industry Association only agree on working conditions between employees and companies.
