N okia has refuted the claim of Acting Federal IT and Telecom Minister Dr Umar Saif that the company's CEO will visit Pakistan soon.

In a post on Twitter dated September 5, the IT minister said that he was looking forward to receiving the Nokia CEO in Pakistan soon. The official press release issued by the Press Information Department (PID), which is still available on the website, also contains the minister's statement.

PID Press Release: The press release mentioned that the Honorary Consul General of Pakistan in Finland and Wille Eerola, Chairman of the Finland-Pakistan Business Council called on the IT Minister. According to the press release, Dr. Saif told Eerola during the meeting that "the CEO of Nokia is coming to Pakistan soon."

The news was also reported by ProPakistani, but Nokia reached out to us with the following comment: We found that the news about the CEO of Nokia visiting Pakistan was published by many media including yours. We inform you that the news is not true.

It was great to meet the Honorable General Counsel of Pakistan in Finland. He is looking forward to hosting the CEO of Nokia in Pakistan soon. Nokia is one of the world's leading 5G/6G telecommunications networks. Nokia phones are already being assembled in Pakistan - Umar Saif said.

Surprisingly, the IT minister quietly removed a post on X that claimed the Nokia CEO was visiting Pakistan.
