Nokia X30 5G Android 12 Build software update issue

09. 02. 2023 Thursday / By: Robert Denes / Software / Exact time: BST / Print this page

U nfortunately, I have to report another software update problem, which this time concerns the last update of Android 12 Build for the Nokia X30 5G smartphone.

Nokia X30 5G user "MickyB Au" thoroughly tested the new build and found that fast charging has been disabled or at least slowed down. It uses an Anker charger, which provides 33W fast charging, which the X30 should be able to handle, so no problem is expected here. Micky said that the phone regularly disconnects the charger when charging from 50%. Fast charging should work at these battery levels. The Ampere app showed over 5000MA fast charging, but the charging speed was somehow slower. This may be due to some electronic or battery problem in some models, but an explanation is needed.

I wouldn't notice this for two reasons: I charge my phone overnight, although my X30 hasn't lasted all day lately, and I'm not a huge power user, so I charge it after I get home from work. Another reason is that I haven't received the new build for the X30 yet. I also think that Nokia may have disabled or prohibited the use of non-genuine chargers that might damage the batteries, but this is unlikely.

Micky also said that Nokia Mobile played with the video algorithms of the latest Build and changed the quality of the video output. Videos are now darker than before. However, the phone seems to be working better.

MikyB looked into it and got confirmation of the charging issue on the Nokia community forums. It seems that after update 00WW_1_310 charging is limited to around 8.5W with a charging power of 2 amps instead of the maximum 33W. According to both Ampere and CPU -Z, the battery technology is unknown, so it appears to be limited. to simple USB charging instead of fast charging, regardless of the charger.
