Nokia Mobile shipped 13 million phones in the first quarter of 2021

Nokia Mobile shipped about 13 million Nokia phones in the first quarter of 2021, according to market research firm Counterpoint Research.

Smartphone shipments reached 2 million in the first quarter of 2021, compared to 1.7 million in the same period last year, with parts of Africa and Europe driving the growth. Compared to the fourth quarter, shipments decreased from approximately 2.8 million units. Counterpoint cites India as the market with the most significant change in shipments, where Nokia phones saw a 38.5% decline compared to the fourth quarter of 2020 (QoQ) and a 17% decline compared to the first quarter of 2021 (YoY).

Nokia Mobile was the 11th largest handset maker worldwide in the first quarter of 2021, losing two seats compared to the fourth quarter of 2020. In terms of smartphones, the company fell from No. 17 to No. 18. Samsung remains the largest smartphone maker with a market share of 21.7%, followed by Apple (16.8%), Xiaomi (13.7%), Oppo (10.7%) and Vivo ( 10%).

In terms of revenue market share, Apple grabbed the largest piece of the cake with a market share of 42% (i.e., if the market reached $ 118 billion, Apple achieved 42% of that, or nearly $ 50 billion in smartphone revenue) . Samsung followed with 17.5%, Oppo with 8.2%, Vivo with 8% and Xiaomi with 7.6%.
