The Nokia G400 5G was announced at the very top of the year at CES 2022. At the time, the company did not offer a release date, only saying that the phone is part of a product line that will arrive at US carriers sometime in the first half of the year, and will be available through T-Mobile USA.
HMD Global has focused on what matters most to consumers, so the phone offers a large screen and a powerful camera. The device has microSD expandable storage and even a 3.5mm headphone jack. While it may not offer the most powerful SoC on the market, it should be more than enough for those who use the phone for basic purposes.
When HMD Global originally announced this device at CES, it also claimed that the new 2022 lineup would be its "biggest US expansion" since it first came out. To achieve this, the company has partnered with US mobile carriers such as Consumer Cellular, Dish Wireless, Metro, T-Mobile and TracFone Wireless. While HMD Global has tried its hand at launching premium phones, it's had the most success with low- and mid-range devices. The company has focused on offering smartphones that offer the best value while minimizing compromise.
The Nokia G400 5G sports a 6.58-inch 120Hz 1080×2408 FHD+ display and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 5G SoC. It has 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The phone has a triple camera array on the back that uses a 48MP primary sensor, a 5MP ultra-wide sensor and a 2MP depth sensor. The front camera comes with a resolution of 15 MP.
The phone has a fingerprint sensor on the side and can be charged via USB-C. The smartphone is not yet available on T-Mobile's website, but there are placeholders for it, so it's only a matter of time. It's worth checking out at your local T-Mobile store, but be sure to call before you go, as stocks are currently limited. The Nokia G400 5G will be priced at $234 on T-Mobile.
