HMD Global today unveiled the new X30 and G60 phones, but as 5G devices with long support, they're on the more expensive side. For budget-conscious shoppers, there's the new Nokia C31, as well as a new tablet. The company is also launching new TWS buds and a Bluetooth speaker.
The Nokia C31 is quite large with a 6.75-inch display – not quite as big as the C30, but still a sizeable phone at 169.2 x 78 x 8.6mm and weighing 200 grams. The display is an HD+ LCD covered by tempered glass (no branding though).

The C31 is powered by the Unisoc 9863A1, a 28nm chip with eight Cortex-A55 cores (1.6GHz) and a PowerVR GE8322 GPU. It runs full-blooded Android 12 (instead of the Go edition), with the promise of 2 years of quarterly security patches (but nothing for updates). There are three memory configurations: 3/32 GB, 4/64 GB and 4/128 GB. The storage can be expanded with microSD cards up to 256 GB (dedicated slot). The phone has a fairly basic camera setup – 13MP main, 2MP macro and 2MP depth, along with a notched 5MP selfie camera on the front. The phone comes with the Google-developed camera app from Android Go, as well as the GoPro Quick App for quick and easy photo and video editing. The front camera supports face unlock even when wearing a mask, or you can use the fingerprint scanner on the back.
This big phone has a rather large 5050mAh battery, which unfortunately only supports basic 10W charging, and even worse, it uses microUSB for that. The phone is IP52 rated, making it resistant to dust and dripping water. The C31 is a 4G phone (LTE Cat. 4) with dual nanoSIM slots (plus extra space for microSD). There is a 3.5 mm headphone jack and an FM radio receiver. Also Wi-Fi b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.2.
The Nokia C31 starts at EUR 240 (GBP 207, USD 240 and INR 19123) for the base 3/32GB model and goes on sale worldwide today. You can choose between charcoal, cyan and mint. The Nokia T21 is a slight upgrade to the T20. Its 10.4-inch LCD has a resolution of 2000 x 1200 pixels (15:9). It supports the active pen (Wacom WGP and Wacom Active ES 2.0) and can also be used as a secondary display on a Windows PC.
The tablet runs Android 12 on a Unisoc T612 chipset (12nm, 2x Cortex-A75 + 6x Cortex-A55, Mali-G52), with 4GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB of storage, expandable up to 512GB via microSD card expandable. HMD promises 2 operating system updates and three years of monthly security patches for the tablet. Nokia C31 unveiled with large 6.7-inch display, joined by pen-enabled T21 tablet. The tablet can also be used on the go thanks to the optional 4G connection, which supports both voice calls and texting. Interestingly, this tablet has a hybrid slot, so it can hold two nanoSIMs (or SIM+microSD). Thanks to the 8 MP front camera, it can also be used for streaming videos (Netflix HD certified) or video calling (there is another 8 MP module on the back). And you don't have to worry too much about getting damaged, the aluminum case is quite durable (and there is a 50% recycled plastic cover over the antennas for better reception), the tablet itself is IP52 rated. The T21 is powered by an 8200mAh battery (rated for 800 cycles) and can be charged at up to 18W via USB-C 2.0 (PD 3.0). There's also a 3.5mm headphone jack (and stereo speakers). Depending on the market, you may get a basic 10W charger and a protective case in the retail package.
The Nokia T21 tablet is launched today at a price of EUR 130 (GBP 112, USD 130 and INR 10359) for a Wi-Fi unit with 4/64 GB of memory, and again there is a 4G LTE version. While the C31 and T31 have a 3.5mm jack, the Nokia X30 and C60 do not. You should grab the Nokia Clarity Earbuds 2 Pro, a TWS headset with hybrid Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), Bluetooth 5.2 multipoint connection and Fast Pair. The buds feature 13mm neodymium drivers and IPX4 water resistance. They last up to 7 hours of playing time by themselves (9 hours without ANC), the case lasts up to 28 hours in total (36 hours without ANC).The bud need less than 2 hours to fully charge the 60 mAh battery, and the charging case's 500 mAh battery takes about 2 hours (via USB-C). By the way, the case is made of 100% post-consumer recycled materials, and the packaging is also made of recycled materials.
The Nokia Portable Wireless Speaker 2 uses Bluetooth 5.1 and you can connect two at once for stereo playback. A robust little speaker with an IPX7 rating and eco-friendly too – the casing is made from 100% post-consumer waste and the mesh is made from 100% recycled aluminium. The speaker has a single 5W driver (45mm) and a 1200mAh battery, which is enough for 22 hours of continuous playback. Recharging is via USB-C. The speaker measures 90 x 90 x 74 mm and weighs 225 g.
Nokia Clarity Earbuds 2 Pro and Portable Wireless Speaker 2 will be available in select markets later this month. You can pick up the buds for EUR 100 (GBP 86, USD 100 and INR 7971), the speaker for EUR 55 (GBP 47, USD 55 and INR 4384). Via Link
