CES or the International Consumer Electronics Show is the premium event of the technology sector. In January, Samsung presented its latest S24 Ultra smartphone with an OIS camera system on the world market, which you can see in this video comparing the camera with the Nokia 808 Pureview camera, which was launched earlier in 2012. I don't think I need to add many comments to the comparison, but let's note that the S24 Ultra has a 200 MP camera, while the 808 Pureview only has a 41 MP camera.
The sensor of the Nokia 808 Pureview is 1/1.2″, so it is larger than the sensor of an average compact camera. Its effective resolution is 38 megapixels with a 4:3 aspect ratio, which means an image size of 7152×5368 pixels, but you can also choose a 16:9 aspect ratio, which uses 34 megapixels.
The lens is a fixed Carl Zeiss optic with a focal length equivalent to 24mm, with a brightness of 1:2.4. Instead of optical zoom, the machine uses the ample resolution of the sensor, so for example, with a 5 megapixel image size, you can use 3x image magnification without quality loss, which practically corresponds to the same optical zoom (24-74mm equiv.).
The device is also suitable for recording Full HD (1080p) videos (30 frames/sec), which can be made in H.264 format with a bit rate of 25 Mbit/sec. In this case, the intelligent zoom can be used up to 4x, while for 720-line video, up to 6x "spanning". The sound recording is made with Dolby Digital Plus technology. The phone is also equipped with Xenon flash and LED video light. Its display is a 4″ AMOLED with a 16:9 aspect ratio, which offers a resolution of 640 x 360 pixels.
The Galaxy S24 Ultra has a 200MP main camera, a 12MP wide-angle camera and a pair of telephoto cameras: one 10MP and the other 50MP. These cameras have 3x and 5x optical zoom, as well as 2x and 10x optical quality zoom.
Samsung has replaced the second 10-megapixel telephoto camera with a 50-megapixel telephoto camera on the Galaxy S24 Ultra, promising that the higher megapixel count will result in 10x optical-quality zoom photos that look just as good as the S23 Ultra's 10- times optical zoom. The S24 Ultra has a 5x optical telephoto zoom and 3x optical zoom.
