The licensed use of the Nokia brand in consumer devices is being liquidated because the Austrian company StreamView, which has been selling smart TVs, streaming devices and receivers under the Nokia brand since 2020, has stopped using the Nokia brand in its products.

In December 2023, the website of StreamView, which launched new Nokia smart TVs with Google TV, disappeared from the website of Nokia's product presentations and from the online store that previously sold the products. Instead, StreamView has now announced that it is a licensor of the Thomson brand and will develop and market Thomson SmartTVs.

StreamView continues to provide support for Nokia products, including answers to frequently asked questions, manuals, software updates and contact. Finnish retailers continue to offer Nokia Smart TVs and streaming devices.

HMD Global, a Finnish company that has been developing and selling Nokia phones since 2016, has also begun transitioning from using the Nokia brand. With its new strategy, HMD has launched its phones under its own HMD brand name and has already left the Nokia brand for smart devices. However, this year saw the introduction of several new feature phones under the Nokia brand. For the so-called entry-level phones, HMD Global's Nokia trademark license continues until March 2026, according to the latest information.

Brand licensing was part of the Nokia Technology business group's activities alongside patent and technology licensing, but the wider presentation of brand licenses also disappeared from Nokia's website.
