L eaked retail packaging has confirmed that the HMD Asha 305 will run a new operating system, Pulse OS. Leaked retail packaging has confirmed that the HMD Asha 305 will use a new operating system, Pulse OS, along with almost complete specs: a 5-inch 854x480 display, Unisoc T137 chipset, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, a 2,500mAh battery with 5W charging, and two 2MP cameras.
A day after HMD's upcoming budget phone appeared on a certification listing, newly leaked retail packaging has given a clearer look at the device, confirmed its software, and added several missing specs.
The box identifies the phone as the HMD Asha 305 and confirms that it will run an operating system called Pulse OS. The phone has already been listed at a Philippine retailer for PHP 3,990 (GBP 48, EUR 56, USD 64 and INR 6,186), and judging by the advertising banners, the new operating system will support a few apps, including TikTok, WhatsApp and ChatGPT, to name a few.
HMD is also expected to rely on its Cloud Phone system to provide 4G connectivity and select online features, while keeping the interface and overall experience simpler than a traditional Android smartphone. According to the retail box, the HMD Asha 305 will be available in black and green. It measures 147 x 71.5 x 10.2 mm and features a 5-inch display with a resolution of 854 x 480 pixels.
Under the hood, the phone packs the Unisoc T137 chipset paired with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. It comes with basic imaging capabilities, with 2MP cameras on both the front and rear. The device is powered by a 2500mAh battery that supports 5W charging.
In terms of connectivity and extra features, it has 4G support, Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS module, and a standard 3.5mm headphone jack to round out the hardware. These are definitely modest specs, but they are in line with a budget, stripped-down device. HMD is yet to officially announce the Asha 305, nor has it confirmed its full specifications, pricing, and market availability.
