HMD Global is set to announce its latest touchscreen phones, the HMD M-CUP X4 and HMD M-CUP X4e, for African markets; details were shared an hour ago on social media by the well-known leaker @smashx_60.

The HMD M-CUP X4 and HMD M-CUP X4e will be available for purchase through the African online retailer M-Kopa - a launch HMD has not yet officially announced. Consequently, the phones are neither available nor listed on HMD's official website. According to leaks, the HMD M-CUP X4 and HMD M-CUP X4e feature a 6.75-inch HD+ IPS LCD display with a 90Hz refresh rate. The devices run on the Android 16 OS, which is used on most of HMD's touchscreen smartphones.
Under the hood, the HMD M-CUP X4e is powered by the 12nm Unisoc T7200 chipset, while the HMD M-CUP X4 uses the MTK Helio G81 - the same chip found in the HMD Aura Pro 2. Camera specifications also differ: the M-CUP X4e has a 13MP main camera (plus VGA and 2MP sensors) and a 5MP selfie camera, whereas the M-CUP X4 boasts a more capable 50MP main camera (plus VGA and 2MP sensors) and an 8MP selfie camera.

The HMD M-CUP X4e is equipped with a 5000mAh battery that unfortunately supports only 10W charging. Its sibling, the M-CUP X4, also has a 5000mAh battery but supports faster 18W charging. Additionally, the M-CUP X4e comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, while the M-CUP X4 offers 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Purchases include a free gel case and screen protector... ...a screen replacement warranty is also included! Previously, @smashx_60 shared plans for three upcoming M-Kopa devices; the specifications for the M-CUP X40 are still missing, so to speak, but hopefully, I’ll be able to share those with you soon, too!
