Judas Priest tickets for the Invincible Shield tour will go on sale on Friday, November 10 at 10 a.m., during which the famous heavy metal band will perform at the Nokia Arena. Formed in Birmingham in 1969, Judas Priest has sold more than 50 million albums throughout their career. The band was inducted into the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame in 2022. The band previously performed in Finland at the Sauna Open Air festival in Tampere in 2011.
Judas Priest is a Grammy Award-winning British heavy metal band founded by guitarist K.K. Downing and bassist Ian Hill in the late 1960s. The name Judas Priest was suggested by the band's former singer Al Atkins, who borrowed the term from Bob Dylan's song The Ballad of Frankie Lee and Judas Priest. Along with K. K. Downing and Ian Hill, guitarist Glenn Tipton can also be considered a permanent band member. Along with Downing and Tipton, singer Rob Halford is the third main songwriter, joining the band in 1973. Halford was the band's regular singer for 20 years, then left the band in 1993 citing musical differences to focus on his solo career.
He was replaced by Tim "Ripper" Owens, with whom the band made two LPs. Halford returned to the ranks of Judas Priest in 2003, but also did not give up his solo career. In the first phase of their career, several drummers changed in the band, until in 1980 the band line-up was solidified with the addition of Dave Holland. Holland was in the band until the end of the 80s, he was replaced by Scott Travis (ex-Racer X), who is still a member of the band today.
Judas Priest is one of the most successful and influential heavy metal bands of all time. The band, which has sold more than 45 million records worldwide, played a major role in the creation of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal with its records made in the second half of the 70s, which is why Judas Priest is often referred to as the "godfather" of heavy metal.
In addition to the guitar playing of Downing and Tipton, the basis of the band's sound is determined by Halford's voice, who can switch from the middle to the completely smooth soprano with his wide range. The band is often referred to as "Metal Gods" (metal gods), which can be derived from the track of the same title on the British Steel album released in 1980, but Halford is also often referred to as "Metalgod". In 2010, VH1 named them the 78th greatest artist of all time, while MTV named them the second greatest metal band of all time (after Black Sabbath).
