U.S. District Judge Rodney Gilstrap is suspending IPCom's patent infringement lawsuits against Verizon and Nokia after a jury trial began in the East Texas area earlier this week, giving companies time to finalize an impending settlement.

Judge Gilstrap paused the patent lawsuit on Thursday and gave Verizon Wireless and Nokia of America Corp. 30 days to agree with IPCom Gmbh & Co. KG to resolve IPCom's claims that the companies six violations were violated.

The order came almost a week after Judge Gilstrap agreed to suspend IPCom's infringement charges against AT&T Inc. after being notified, he was close to settlement.

Verizon, Nokia and AT&T are scheduled to begin EDTX jury negotiations with the German patent licensing company earlier this month.

IPCom originally filed an individual patent lawsuit against Verizon in early October 2020, arguing that the telecommunications giant infringed its patents on wireless technology, issued by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office between November 2004 and August 2019.

There was only one complaint. several lawsuits filed in the Texas Federal Court the same month against telecommunications companies, including AT&T, for wireless communications technology produced by Nokia and Ericsson Inc.

Judge Gilstrap joined IPCom's lawsuit against Verizon and AT&T in December 2020. Nokia wanted to intervene in the merger process next month, and Ericsson followed suit in February 2021.

Last month, IPCom and Ericsson told Judge Gilstrap that they had resolved infringement claims by patent licensing companies over the use of Ericsson equipment. The parties did not disclose the amount of their settlement.

Judge Gilstrap instructed Nokia and Verizon to submit dismissal papers by the end of their nearly one-month stay. IPCom, Verizon, Nokia and their attorneys did not respond immediately to comments on Friday.
