F innish HMD has introduced the new HMD Vibe2 5G smartphone in India, which offers a large battery, Android 16 software and a modernized design at a more affordable price point. So far, HMD has not said anything about the availability of the phone outside India.
The focus of the HMD Vibe2 5G is on long battery life, impressive visuals and basic 5G performance. The phone is available in three color variants: Cosmic Lavender, Nordic Blue and Peach Pink. The HMD Vibe2 5G has a rather large body. The phone has a 6.75-inch IPS display with HD+ resolution and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The display uses a V-shaped notch for the front camera.
The T8200 chipset developed by Unisoc is responsible for the performance, which is accompanied by 4 or 6 GB of RAM and 64 or 128 GB of internal storage, depending on the model version. The storage can be expanded up to a terabyte using a microSD memory card.
One of the most notable features of the phone is the large 6,000 mAh battery, which HMD claims can last up to a day on 4G networks. Charging is via USB-C, and 18W charging power is also supported.
In terms of cameras, the HMD Vibe2 5G offers a 50MP main camera as part of a dual-camera system. There's an 8MP selfie camera on the front. HMD is putting a special emphasis on the AI-powered shooting experience. The software runs Android 16, which is the latest software version of the same. HMD promises two years of quarterly security updates, but no Android version updates.
Other features include a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, facial recognition, Bluetooth 5.0, dual-SIM support, and 5G connectivity across multiple bands. HMD is also including a pretty comprehensive sales package with the phone. It comes with a protective case, screen protector, charger, and USB-C cable.
