E arlier this month, a microsite of a mysterious HMD device went live on Flipkart’s official website. Well, now HMD has officially revealed the name and launch timeline of this mysterious device – the HMD Vibe 2 5G.
The company has shown off the front of the device, which features a punch-hole selfie camera and slightly rounded corners. It is expected that HMD will soon start revealing more key details about the upcoming device via the Flipkart microsite.
This device comes as a successor to the HMD Vibe 5G smartphone that debuted in India last year. Since the HMD Vibe 5G was launched as a budget-friendly device (priced at Rs 8,999), the same is expected to be the case with the HMD Vibe 2 5G smartphone as well. Let’s take a look at the specifications of the HMD Vibe 5G.
The HMD Vibe 5G features a 6.67-inch HD+ punch-hole IPS display with 2.5D curved display and 90Hz refresh rate, delivering a resolution of 720 x 1604 pixels. It is powered by a Unisoc T760 processor, paired with 4GB of RAM and up to 4GB of virtual RAM expansion. There is 128GB of internal storage, which can be expanded up to 512GB via microSD card. The HMD Vibe 5G comes with a dual rear camera setup that includes a 50MP AI main camera and a 2MP depth camera, along with an LED flash and a rear notification light. Up front, there is an 8MP selfie camera. For audio, it comes with two speakers and a single microphone.
The phone packs a 5000mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging via USB Type-C, giving you up to 30 hours of talk time on 5G and 28 hours on 4G. Connectivity features include Bluetooth 5.2, GPS/AGPS, GLONASS, Wi-Fi 802.11 A/B/G/N, and USB Type-C.
Running on Android 15, the HMD Vibe 5G offers a clean, bloat-free experience. HMD promises two years of quarterly security updates, though the device won't receive any OS updates and will remain on Android 15. Security features include a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and face unlock, along with standard sensors like accelerometer, ambient light, and proximity. It supports dual nano SIM slots with 5G and 4G connectivity. In terms of size, the HMD Vibe 5G has a height of 165 mm, a width of 75.8 mm and a thickness of 8.65 mm, and weighs 190 grams.
