HMD is gearing up to launch a new device in India, the HMD Touch 4G, which is a blend of the simplicity of a feature phone and the functionality of a smartphone. The device, which is scheduled to debut today, October 7, is being touted as "India's first hybrid phone." While HMD's teaser video doesn't reveal much else, a tipster has leaked some live images of the Touch 4G. The leaked images reveal the design of the upcoming device and suggest what's inside the box.
A post by HMD India X (formerly Twitter) confirms that the HMD Touch 4G will be launched in the country on October 7. The company claims that it will be "India's first hybrid phone" and is expected to serve as a bridge between feature phones and smartphones.
It's unclear whether the HMD Touch 4G will be limited to India or will be released elsewhere. The teaser video doesn't reveal much else, but tipster HMD_MEME'S (@smashx_60) has shared a few leaked images of the device. The HMD Touch 4G is seen in shades of cyan and gray, with a compact touchscreen and a design reminiscent of the Nokia Asha line from over a decade ago. The device appears to have a metal unibody construction.
The images show a button and a headphone jack on the top, while the home screen suggests that the phone will support dual SIM cards. The SIM tray is on the left edge, while the volume rocker and power buttons are on the right edge.
The HMD Touch 4G has a single camera on the back with an LED flash, according to the leaked images. On the front, there's a selfie camera next to the earpiece, and a touch-sensitive home button below the display. According to another post by the tipster, the HMD Touch 4G will likely have a 3.2-inch touchscreen.
