CES or the International Consumer Electronics Show is the premium event of the technology sector. It will take place between January 9 and 12, 2024 at the usual location, the Las Vegas Convention Center, where HMD Global, or HMD America, will now also be present. This year, the Finnish company that operates Nokia-branded devices rented a booth in Murano 3201A, which is the location of the meeting. Last year, HMD struck a similar deal and unveiled several US-based devices.

HMD Global has unveiled its new Skyline phone, a mid-range smartphone - Without mentioning much, Verkkokauppa.com has also launched the HMD Skyline Business Edition version and two different protective cases for the phone in Finland. The HMD Skyline Business Edition is not much different from the base model. However, the device is part of HMD's enterprise offering, enhanced by a longer update promise. The phone is still promised two Android version updates, but security updates will appear for 5 years. In the basic version, the update promise is 2 + 3 years.
The phone carries the style of the old Nokia Lumia phones, but this time the focus was on simple repair. Everyone can do the repair themselves and the phone is replaceable, such as the back cover, battery and screen. iFixit also provides repair manuals for free.
The phone itself has a 6.55-inch pOLED display panel with a refresh rate of 144 Hz, a Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 SoC developed by Qualcomm, a 108 MP triple camera and a 4600 mAh battery. The phone also has wireless charging and an IP54 rating.
The HMD Skyline Business Edition is available in 8 + 256GB memory variant and is priced at EUR 569 (GBP 479, USD 619, INR 51,844). The price is 70 euros more than the basic model, but at the same time it has twice as much storage space. However, the phone only has a black version.
Verkkokauppa has also listed the HMD Skyline Rugged Case, priced at €69 (GBP 58, USD 75, INR 6,286). It is said to be a durable IP68 rated protective case for the phone, which allows the phone to withstand water as well as being dropped from a height of 1.5 meters. The protective cover is also equipped with magnets that allow wireless charging with the cover.
Additionally, a more traditional HMD Skyline Case has been introduced for €39 (GBP 32, USD 41, INR 3,462). There are black and pink color variants like on a phone. This is a case made of silicone with a microfiber lining. Protects the back and front of the phone. The protective case also has magnets, thanks to which wireless charging can be used without removing the case.
