These 5G and 4G mobile platforms provide greater performance and capabilities to provide OEMs with additional options to meet existing needs.
Deepu John, senior director of product management at Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. said: “Mid-range smartphones are expected to be the main driving force in accelerating the deployment of 5G devices, especially in emerging regions,” "The four new additions to our roadmap provide significant opportunities for our OEM customers and additional opportunities to meet the growing demand for our 5G and 4G mobile platforms."
There is significant traction and momentum at all levels of the Snapdragon. By transferring the state-of-the-art features of the Snapdragon 8 Series to the 7, 6 and 4 Series, this contributes to the growing demand for each Snapdragon Series. The Snapdragon 7 Series has grown 44% in just last year due to huge, high levels of demand. The 6 Series will feature consumer trends that show that mid-range smartphones will be the main driver of 5G’s proliferation, especially in emerging regions. In addition, in less than a year, more than 85 devices have been announced or are under development based on Snapdragon 480.
HMD Global said: “The Snapdragon 480 5G Mobile Platform has been an instrumental part of HMD Global’s drive to bring high quality, affordable 5G smartphones, supported by commitments to longevity and reliability, to as many people as possible. Powering devices in our X-series like the life-proof Nokia XR20, and now bringing 5G to our most accessible price point yet with the Nokia G50, the Snapdragon 480 has brought a strong blend of performance and reliability to our users. We are excited to continue to innovate and deliver great experiences to our customers in collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies and look forward to the launch of the Snapdragon 480 Plus.”
