HMD Global has begun exporting Nokia phones manufactured in India to other countries, which have so far only been sold in India.

We started exporting from India. So far, all of our phones sold in India are made in India. Not only are they manufactured in India, but we are also focusing on manufacturing them together with Indian manufacturing partners and India is now launching exports, ”added Kochhar.

Kochhar said there is still a great need for telephones and a variety of uses - from low entry costs, recurring costs (no data costs) to longer battery life and repair costs.

“While the market for feature phones in India is declining, we are not shrinking and we have now become the first in their value ... MENA, Latin America,” he declares.

HMD Global is working with various ODM (Original Design Manufacturer) and EMS (Electronic Manufacturing Solution) partners to meet the domestic demand for Indian phones and smartphones.

India is one of the largest smartphone markets in the world. While several handset manufacturers have started assembling their handsets in the country, many are also considering using India as a manufacturing base to serve other markets. The government has also introduced various schemes and incentives, including a tied production (PLI) system, to promote local production of electronic products.
