HMD Global has officially announced the HMD T21 Tablet

T oday, HMD Global officially announced the XR21 smartphone as well as the previously leaked T21 Tablet, which is already priced at EUR 299 (GBP 256, USD 322, INR 26886) with 4 GB RAM, 128 GB storage, Dual SIM capacity in Black Steel color available for purchase in Finland. The HMD T21 is a rebranded Nokia T21 tablet with only minor changes. This version has two SIM card slots, 4 gigabytes of RAM and 128 gigabytes of storage. A 4 + 64 GB version will also be available.

There were no changes in the general implementation. The HMD T21 is made of aluminum and plastic. The front of the screen is protected by glass. HMD Global promised IP52 splash water resistance for the device. The HMD T21 measures 247.5 x 157.3 x 7.5 millimeters and weighs 466.2 grams.

The tablet has the usual 10.36-inch LCD display from its predecessor, the resolution of which reaches the 2K level. The screen is 2000 x 1200 pixels, which guarantees about 226 pixels per inch. The screen has a wide, 5:3 aspect ratio, 360 nits of brightness and the traditional 60 Hz refresh rate. One of the innovations of the screen is support for the Active Pen touchscreen stylus, but HMD Global itself does not offer a stylus for the tablet.

The T612 system chip developed by Unisoc is responsible for the power supply, which is manufactured using a 12 nanometer process and has eight cores. The system circuit consists of two more powerful Cortex-A75 cores clocked at 1.8 GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 1.8 GHz. The HMD T21 tablet has 4 gigabytes of RAM and 64 or 128 gigabytes of internal storage. microSD memory cards up to 512 gigabytes are also supported.

There is a camera on the back of the tablet with a resolution of 8 megapixels. The camera supports autofocus and an LED flash next to it. The HMD T21 tablet also has an 8-megapixel fixed-focus front-facing camera. According to HMD Global, the device also features stereo speakers, a headphone jack, and LTE connectivity. The innovations already include calling functions and NFC.

Battery life is based on a large 8,200 mAh battery that can be charged via USB-C with a maximum output of 18 watts. A 10-watt charger is included with the tablet. The operating system is pure Android 13, and security updates are promised for the HMD T21 tablet "until summer 2027". It seems to be a familiar 2 + 3 year upgrade promise.
