HMD Global today announced its new tablet, the Nokia T21, at IFA 2022. This is the successor to the Nokia T20 tablet released last year. We recently saw the compact Nokia T10 tablet , but now the new Nokia T21 offers a larger 10-inch screen. In many ways, it's just a slight upgrade to its predecessor.

The Nokia T21 is made of aluminum and plastic. The front of the screen is protected by glass. There is only one color version of the tablet, which is charcoal gray. HMD Global has promised the device's IP52 splash-proof rating. The Nokia T21 measures 247.5 x 157.3 x 7.5 millimeters and weighs 466.2 grams.

The tablet has the usual 10.36-inch LCD display from its predecessor, the resolution of which reaches the 2K level. The screen is therefore 2000 x 1200 pixels, which guarantees approximately 226 pixels per inch. The screen has a wide 5:3 aspect ratio, 360 nits brightness and the traditional 60 Hz refresh rate. One of the innovations of the screen is support for the Active Pen touchscreen stylus, but HMD Global itself does not offer a stylus for the tablet.

The T612 system chip developed by Unisoc is responsible for the power supply, which is made using a 12 nanometer process and has eight cores. The system circuit consists of two more powerful Cortex-A75 cores clocked at 1.8 GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 1.8 GHz. The Nokia T21 tablet has 4 gigabytes of RAM and 64 or 128 gigabytes of internal storage. microSD memory cards up to 512 gigabytes are also supported.

There is a camera on the back of the tablet with a resolution of 8 megapixels. The camera supports autofocus and an LED flash next to it. The Nokia T21 tablet also has an 8-megapixel front-facing camera with fixed focus. According to HMD Global, the device also features stereo speakers, a headphone jack, and LTE connectivity. Innovations now include calling functions and NFC.

Battery life is based on a large 8,200 mAh battery that can be charged via USB-C with a maximum output of 18 watts. A 10-watt charger is included with the tablet. The Nokia T21 has also been certified by Netflix, so it is suitable for presenting higher-quality content, which was one of the shortcomings of the predecessor model. HMD Global has also brought support for a feature that allows the tablet to be used as a second screen as a friend to a Windows computer.

The operating system is pure Android 12, and the Nokia T21 tablet is pre-installed with Kids Space and Entertainment Space developed by Google. HMD Global also promises good update support for the tablet, as the Nokia T21 gets two years of Android version updates and three years of security updates.

In Finland, the Nokia T21 will not be available immediately, but local recommended prices and availability will be announced later. Globally, the price of the Nokia T21 tablet starts at EUR 239 (GBP 206, USD 239 and INR 19055).
