F innish company HMD Global has officially unveiled its new HMD Asha 305 phone by posting the details of the phone on its website. When Nokia was still making its own phones, it offered a series of Asha phones in the final stage, which were so-called simple smartphones, phones with a small smart feature. Since 2018, the Asha trademark belongs to HMD Global, which also sells Nokia phones under its own license.

Now HMD has brought the Asha brand to life with the new HMD Asha 305. The novelty was released in the first markets in early July, but now HMD has confirmed all the information.

The HMD Asha 305 is a simple and affordable 4G smartphone with a small 5-inch display, a removable battery and support for popular applications. HMD announces Pulse as the operating system. It is an open source system based on Android, but without the Google Play app store and a number of other pre-installed apps. This is how the phone's software differs from other HMD phones.

However, HMD is particularly highlighting the apps associated with the Asha 305. The phone can be used to access a number of popular apps, and HMD mentions TikTok Lite as an example. Apps are available for watching videos, social media, gaming, and messaging, among others, and can be downloaded from the app store that comes with the phone. The HMD Asha 305 has a 5-inch display with a FWVGA resolution of 854×480 pixels. The phone measures 147×71.5×10.2 millimeters and weighs 145 grams, making it a relatively compact device. The color options are black and lime green. The back combines textured and smooth surfaces.

Performance is provided by the Unisoc T137 chipset, accompanied by 2 GB of RAM. The internal storage is 16 GB, expandable up to 128 GB via microSD card. Both the front and rear cameras have a resolution of 2 megapixels. The rear camera is also accompanied by an LED flash.

The HMD Asha 305 supports 4G mobile network connectivity and two nano-SIM cards. Other connectivity features include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, and GPS tracking. According to HMD, the phone also supports Wi-Fi hotspot, which allows you to share your mobile data connection with other devices.

The battery capacity is 2,500 mAh, and it is user-removable. HMD promises a maximum battery life of 32 hours, with a maximum of 15 hours of 4G talk time. Charging is via USB-C, with a power output of 5 watts. HMD has yet to announce pricing or more detailed availability for the Asha 305, and the phone's launch in Finland is questionable.
