HMD Global is reportedly aggressively expanding its presence in India's highly competitive budget smartphone market. The recent spate of leaks surrounding the unannounced HMD Crest 2 Pro suggests that the company is planning significant hardware upgrades over its predecessors, the Crest and Crest Max, with a particular focus on battery life and display technology.
As per the details shared by @smashx_60 X, the upcoming HMD Crest 2 Pro will feature a spacious 6.78-inch Super AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution. This is a significant increase in size over the 6.67-inch panel used in the previous generation. Furthermore, the display's refresh rate has been increased to 120Hz - up from the 90Hz standard on older models, which promises a significantly smoother visual experience for scrolling and interface animations.
Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 chipset. While this silicon isn’t designed for intensive, high-end gaming, it’s precisely engineered to deliver reliable and efficient performance for everyday workloads including communications, media consumption, and digital payments.

Endurance seems to be the main selling point of the Crest 2 Pro. The leak hints at a massive 6,000mAh battery, which is the largest power cell HMD has integrated into a smartphone to date. To top up the high-capacity battery, the device supports 33W wired charging. While it’s not the fastest charging speed in the budget segment, it offers a practical balance for those who prioritize multi-day battery life.
Aesthetically, the leaked images suggest that HMD is taking a conservative approach. The overall design language is largely the same as the original Crest series, retaining the familiar square camera island on the back, as well as the slightly protruding bottom bezel (chin) on the front.
In terms of camera, the Crest 2 Pro is expected to feature a versatile, triangular rear system. This array is said to be led by a 64-megapixel primary sensor, complemented by an 8-megapixel secondary lens and a 2-megapixel auxiliary sensor. For the front optics, HMD is expected to include a high-resolution 50-megapixel camera, which will strongly cater to the needs of the selfie and video calling audience.
