A fter a series of certifications and teasers, HMD Global officially released its latest feature phone on Wednesday, a flip phone that looks more like a gaming phone. The HMD Barbie Flip phone has a bright pink color that stands out in any environment. About 20 years ago, feature phones were as essential as smartphones are today. The HMD Barbie Phone takes advantage of this nostalgia, bringing back the charm of the past. This new flip phone is more than a device; it's a link to the simpler days of calls and texts paired with Barbie's iconic pink.
The Barbie Phone distinguishes itself with a bright pink aesthetic, evoking the iconic Barbie brand. The device has a 2.8-inch QVGA display on the inside, accompanied by a smaller 1.77-inch screen on the outside. Its design is intentionally playful, almost like a toy, making it a whimsical tool.
Under the hood, the Barbie Phone is powered by the Unisoc T107 processor with 64MB of RAM and 128MB of internal storage. While these specs may seem modest, they are perfectly adequate for the basic functions that the phone aims to provide. For users who need additional storage, the phone provides a microSD slot that supports up to 32GB of expanded storage capacity. The device runs on the S30+ operating system, ensuring a simple and user-friendly experience.
The Barbie phone is powered by a 1,450mAh battery that provides up to 9 hours of talk time. For users interested in taking quick photos, the device includes a VGA camera with LED flash. The phone also offers Bluetooth 5.0, a USB Type-C port, a 3.5mm headphone jack, FM radio and an MP3 player, ensuring that all the essential features are packed into a simple, nostalgic package.
The HMD Barbie phone has already become available in more European countries today, namely Austria, Bulgaria, Denmark, Finland, the Netherlands and Sweden.
