The recently launched HMD Asha 305 is now available in Thailand with a 73% discount, at just THB 2,659 (GBP 59, EUR 69, USD 79 and INR 7,583), down from its original pre-sale price of THB 9,813 (GBP 218, EUR 255, USD 293 and INR 27,986).
The HMD Asha 305 supports dual 4G SIM cards, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth 4.2 and a 3.5mm headphone jack. This complete package offers a wider range of communication features than traditional landline phones. This device is not positioned as a traditional smartphone, but as a lightweight smartphone. HMD has positioned this as a device that is designed for users who need basic digital applications with simple hardware.
HMD equips the Asha 305 with Pulse OS, which is based on AOSP Android. The system offers more than 100 application options to support daily use. Facebook Lite, Instagram Lite, WhatsApp, TikTok Lite and YouTube are also among the available applications. The lighter version of the application is an important part of the device's approach, which does not follow high specifications.
The presence of GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth provides connectivity support beyond phone calls and text messages. However, HMD has not explained the Wi-Fi standard and the usable storage expansion capacity. On the front of the device is a 5-inch LCD display with a resolution of 480 × 854 pixels. HMD is pairing the display with a Unisoc T137 chipset, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of internal storage.
The camera configuration is also kept simple with a 2MP rear camera and LED flash. The 2MP front camera is available for selfies and video calls. In terms of connectivity, the HMD Asha 305 stands out because it uses a 2,500 mAh battery that can be removed. Removable batteries are becoming less and less common in new phones, which usually use built-in batteries.
The sales package of the device includes a separate battery, a USB Type-C cable, and a charger. HMD says that the battery can provide up to 32 hours of standby time. The standby time claim does not include test details for a specific type of usage. There is also no information yet about the sale of replacement batteries and additional accessories.
