E arthlink Telecommunications will use the Nokia solution in eight governments / provinces across the country, providing high-speed and high-quality wired access services to more than 1.5 million subscribers as part of one of the largest Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) projects.

Earthlink will use the Nokia 7360 ISAM FX-16 Optical Line Terminal (OLT) to provide high quality FTTH broadband services with Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) technology. The new network with its advanced architecture will provide Earthlink with better capacity, flexibility and capabilities, ensuring an excellent subscriber experience. The installation will begin in the third quarter of this year, and Nokia is likely to provide installation and maintenance services as part of the agreement in the first year.

Alaa Mousa, Deputy CEO of Earthlink, said: “This initiative reiterates our commitment to providing the best broadband experience in its category to our subscribers. Last year, we partnered with Nokia to build our nationwide backbone network, and this key project further deepens our commitment. Nokia's industry-leading solutions help deliver a better broadband experience for our residential and business users.”

Mohamed Faisal, head of Nokia’s customer service team in Iraq, said: “We look forward to working with Earthlink to build a world-class fiber network to improve the overall quality and experience of our services. Nokia is at the forefront of developing wired broadband networks, enabling service providers to reduce their costs, even if they improve overall network performance. Nokia's proven OLT fiber access solution enables Earthlink to delight its users by offering greater coverage and a better networking experience.”

With Nokia's OLT fiber solution, Earthlink will be able to easily and quickly upgrade to next-generation PON technologies to further increase capacity and speed. Nokia's solution is suitable for both residential and business users and helps Earthlink optimize its investments while improving the quality of its network.
