Alex Thomson left the race

Welsh sailor Alex Thomson had previously led the field for days and was then forced to bribe last weekend or earlier this week because his boat, Hugo Boss, was injured. After nearly two days of standing still and the necessary assembly, he was able to continue his journey on Monday night, but then the rudder was damaged, which could not be repaired. You may have read before that Alex entered the Vendée Globe with the support of Nokia Bell Labs.

At the forefront, Frenchman Charlie Dalin continues to move in the South Atlantic towards Cape Town with Apivia. He is followed by his compatriot Thomas Ruyan with LinkedOut, also a new generation thanks to the props, while in third place is Jean Le Cam sailing with an earlier construction, Yes we Cam!

Of the bypass sailing competitions, the Vendée Globe is the most difficult: the starters have to orbit the planet alone with their 18-meter, single-hulled boat, without mooring and outside help. The fastest are expected in mid-January in France.
