F inland will host the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest, which will of course take place in the Nokia Arena from February 10, 2024 in the city of Tampere. Yle announced today that the opening of the Eurovision Song Contest will take place on 10 February 2024 at the newly opened Nokia Arena in Tampere.

The Eurovision Song Contest is a music competition held every year since 1956, among the member states of the European Broadcasting Union, and is the world's longest-running international televised music competition. A music competition held every year since 1956 (except 2020), among the member states of the European Broadcasting Union, it is the world's longest-running international television music competition. As part of the song festival, each participating country nominates a song, which is performed live, and then they vote on the numbers entered by the other participants to find the most popular production of the competition.

Created in 1956 on the model of the Sanremo Song Festival, which has been held in Italy since 1951, the competition, which has been held every year since then (except for 2020), is the world's longest-running international television music competition, as well as one of the longest-running television productions. TV companies with EBU membership and invited observer member countries can enter the competition. By 2023, 52 countries have participated at least once in the Eurovision Song Contest. Each country enters an original new song presented after September 1 of the year before the given song festival, the length of which cannot exceed three minutes. A maximum of six people can participate in the stage production, and the performers must be at least 16 years old. The professional juries of the participating nations and the audience voting in the program award 1-8, 10 and 12 points separately to the ten best songs, so that no one can score their own song. The song with the most points is declared the winner at the end of the competition.

Other performances can also be seen at the song festival, such as opening and closing, as well as guest productions. These acts entertain the audience during the voting or start the competition. So far, Cirque du Soleil, Justin Timberlake and Madonna have appeared at the Eurovision Song Festivals, and Michael Flatley's Riverdance performance was also shown here for the first time. Originally, the competition was a one-night event, but as the years progressed, the number of participating countries increased, so from 2004, one semi-final, and from 2008, two semi-finals are held in the days before the final. Germany has participated in most of the competitions so far - with the exception of 1996, they had singers at all song festivals. Morocco participated the fewest times, only once, in 1980. In terms of the number of victories, Ireland is the first country, Sweden is the second country, who have managed to win the Eurovision Song Contest seven times. The United Kingdom is in the lead when it comes to the arrangements, they have hosted fans and participants of the competition nine times. Tickets for the song festival can be purchased at the Nokia Arena from October 5, 2023.
