Total telecommunications equipment market will grow 10% year-over-year in the third quarter of 2021

NEW DELHI: The total telecommunications equipment market grew 10% year-over-year in the first half and 5% year-over-year in the second quarter, according to Dell'Oro Group's new report. This is the fifth consecutive quarterly growth in the overall telecommunications equipment market.

Against this background, the cumulative share of the top seven manufacturers remained relatively stable between 2020 and the second quarter of 2021, accounting for about 81% of market share, despite Huawei and Nokia losing some share during the period.

The U.S. government’s ongoing efforts to crack down on Huawei have had an impact on its performance outside China, including the radio network (RAN) and other areas, the research firm noted.

Stefan Pongratz of Dell’Oro. said: “The momentum for commercialization and the broader Open RAN movement continued to improve during the current quarter, confirming the proposition that Open RAN should be said here,”

At the other end of the spectrum, most manufacturers have been able to take proactive measures to mitigate the effects of the lack of supply chain, Pongratz said. Dell’Oro analysts remain optimistic about the second half of the year and expect the telecommunications equipment market to grow by 5-10% by the full year of 2021.
