Q ualcomm has confirmed that it will release two new generation Snapdragon 8 Elite SoCs this year. The company's latest teasers clearly point to the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chips. Qualcomm has not yet confirmed the official names of the chips, but the teaser uses phrases like "Two change the game", "Opportunity doubled" and "Dual 8 elite". This is also the first official confirmation of rumors that have been circulating for months about two high-end Snapdragon chips.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and the more powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro version are expected to be officially unveiled at the Snapdragon Summit on September 22.
Based on previous information, both SoCs would be manufactured on a new 2-nanometer process. The first signs of the Pro model's performance have already arrived in the form of leaked AnTuTu test results. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro reportedly scored an impressive 4,835,412 points in the test.
With the two Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 variants, Qualcomm is apparently more clearly differentiating its chipset offerings for top Android phones than before. Details on the chip differences and the first phones are expected at the Snapdragon Summit in September.
