It seems that the Finnish HMD is preparing another smartphone. This time, the HMD Salo Business Edition has leaked comprehensive product information online. In addition, the phone has already appeared on the pre-order list of a European retailer. Based on the leaked materials, the HMD Salo Business Edition, as the name suggests, is specifically aimed at business purposes. HMD emphasizes information security, device management and long-term software support, among other things.
On the front of the phone is a 6.56-inch Full HD+ display with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels. The display supports a refresh rate of 90 Hz, and the typical brightness was 600 nits. In HBM mode, the brightness should reach 1200 nits. The display is also said to fully cover the DCI-P3 color space.
Power is provided by the Qualcomm SM4450 SoC, which is labeled as Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 in the leaked material. The chip consists of two 2.2 GHz Cortex-A78 cores and six 2.0 GHz Cortex-A55 cores and is manufactured using a four-nanometer process. Depending on the version, there is 6 or 8 GB of memory and 128 GB of internal storage. In addition, there is virtual RAM and microSD memory card space for cards up to one terabyte.
HMD seems to have invested quite a lot in the cameras, considering the price category. On the back, there is a 64-megapixel optically stabilized main camera, as well as a 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera. The resolution of the front camera can reach up to 50 megapixels. Camera features include a combination of optical and electronic stabilization, 4x lossless digital zoom, Night Mode 5.0 with RAW processing, AI HDR, and various night vision functions.
Inside the HMD Salo is a 5,000 mAh battery that promises up to 65 hours of operation. The phone supports 33W PD and fast charging. The battery capacity remains above 80 percent even after 800 charge cycles.
The equipment also includes NFC, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, USB 3.0 to USB-C connection, eSIM and HMD Desktop Mode wireless connectivity. Miracast, aptX Adaptive and OZO Audio are also included. HMD also mentions HMD AI, which is based on Mistral, among the features.
The phone comes straight out of the box with Android 16. HMD promises three years of Android version updates and five years of security updates. Security patches will be delivered monthly for the first four years and quarterly for the fifth year. Business use is also emphasized by the recommended support for Android Enterprise. The material also mentions the readiness of HMD Enable Pro, as well as various HMD-developed business and management solutions.
The HMD Salo has a structure of 164.15 x 75.5 x 8.32 millimeters, and weighs 210.5 grams. At least the Business Edition version will be seen in a restrained Meteor Black color.
The phone has already appeared on the online store of the European retailer. The listing includes the 8 + 128 GB HMD Salo Business Edition, the price of which is announced at 191.96 euros. According to the retailer, the product will arrive in stock on September 26, 2026, which may also indicate an official release date. However, the listing has since disappeared. HMD has not yet officially announced the Salo phone, so the final information, price and availability may still change.
