G lobe Telecom Philippines selected Nokia AVA energy efficiency in SaaS model to reduce network energy consumption. Nokia AVA for Energy Efficiency SaaS uses artificial intelligence and machine learning to reduce energy consumption on the network while maintaining network performance.
Espoo, Finland – Nokia today announced that AVA's Energy Efficiency software, delivered in a SaaS delivery model, has been selected by Globe Telecom to help the Philippine communications operator achieve lower network energy consumption and lower costs.Nokia AVA for Energy SaaS, which uses artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms, enables Globe to automatically shut down idle and unused equipment during periods of low usage. The solution provides these operational and cost advantages while maintaining the quality of the network.
Deploying this solution through a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model allows Globe to consume the solution purely on demand, with subscription, faster service delivery and uptime. This model also eliminates large upfront capital expenditures and avoids the need for on-site software maintenance and updates.
Using Nokia's AVA Energy Efficiency software and the energy-saving function of the radio access network, Globe achieved an equivalent annual energy saving of 3-6 percent.
Nokia has more than 50 completed or active energy saving projects with CSPs worldwide as operators increasingly seek to reduce energy costs and address environmental sustainability issues in their networks.
Susanna Patja, APJ market leader for cloud and network services at Nokia, said: “Network energy consumption is an issue that will continue to grow in importance for CSPs as they increase their efforts to align network efficiency with environmental objectives. Nokia is pleased to support Globe Telecom's efforts to reduce the carbon footprint of the telecommunications industry. The Nokia AVA for Energy SaaS represents not only what we do with artificial intelligence to unlock strategic opportunities in networks, but Nokia's commitment to reducing emissions across our value chain.”
Via LinkYoly Crisanto, Director of Sustainability and Corporate Communications at Globe Group, said: “We are delighted to expand our partnership with Nokia through the AVA for Energy SaaS solution. Efficient energy use is a strategic condition for our network decarbonization initiatives and net zero goals. The implementation of this solution will help reduce energy costs without affecting the customer experience.”
