CES or the International Consumer Electronics Show is the premium event of the technology sector. It will take place between January 9 and 12, 2024 at the usual location, the Las Vegas Convention Center, where HMD Global, or HMD America, will now also be present. This year, the Finnish company that operates Nokia-branded devices rented a booth in Murano 3201A, which is the location of the meeting. Last year, HMD struck a similar deal and unveiled several US-based devices.
Airtel, Nokia and MediaTek have successfully completed the efficient use of TDD and FDD bands
02. 09. 2024 Monday / By: Robert Denes / Industrial / Exact time: BST / Print this pageA irtel, MediaTek and Nokia announced that they have successfully completed tests to effectively combine TDD and FDD mid-band spectrum using the latest generation chipset. The test to maximize uplink performance was conducted at Airtel's technology lab and achieved upload speeds of 300 Mbps, setting a new benchmark in 5G network performance. This underscores Airtel's commitment to providing innovative solutions that meet the growing needs of a connected world.
The experiment increased the UL speed by merging the 3.5 GHz (n78) and 2.1 GHz (n1) frequency bands, a ground-breaking innovation that significantly improves uplink performance in demanding use cases by dynamically and more efficiently switch the uplink transmission between two TDD and FDD spectrum carriers. Innovative UL Tx switching promises faster connection, better user experience and better network efficiency, meeting high-demand use cases such as video conferencing, live streaming and uploading large files.
Randeep Sekhon, Chief Technology Officer, Bharti Airtel said: "At Airtel, continuous innovation remains the foundation of all our product and service offerings. This trial is not only a testament to our philosophy of developing our state-of-the-art network infrastructure and delivering an unparalleled 5G user experience, but also greatly enhances our network's uplink performance, which results in faster data transfer speeds and better connections."
Dr. Ho-Chi Hwang, General Manager, Wireless Communications Systems and Partnerships, MediaTek, said: "We are delighted to partner with Bharti Airtel and Nokia in this ground-breaking trial in India, where our Dimensity 5G mobile platform played a critical role in Airtel's 5G network in achieving its highest upload speeds. This partnership reinforces our commitment to providing cutting-edge technology that enhances the user experience."
Tarun Chhabra, Country Manager and Head of Mobile Networks, Nokia India, said: "We are proud to collaborate with our long-term partner Airtel on this ground-breaking project. Uplink Tx switching paves the way for superior 5G networks, enabling seamless data transmission on mobile devices and driving demand for data-intensive applications like XR. Congratulations to Bharti Airtel for achieving this milestone and expanding the boundaries of connectivity into new realms."
For this advanced test, Airtel used equipment from Nokia's next-generation 5G AirScale radio portfolio, while MediaTek provided Dimensity's 5G mobile platform as user equipment.
